Paris, the Riviera & Rome

itinerary & my pictures

Day 1 - Fly overnight to France

Day 2 - Paris Arrive in Paris

Day 3 - Paris
Take a guided tour of Paris: Place de la Concorde, Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Les Invalides, Eiffel Tower ~ got to see the Eiffel Tower at night, very nice
Optional: Versailles ~ obviously one of the most overwhelming tours - love Marie Antoinette's rooms & the green & white marble; that's part of our tour group in the Hall of Mirrors

Day 4 - Paris • French Riviera
Visit the Louvre ~ perfect morning to see the Louvre, it would have taken a year to see everything though!
Visit Notre Dame Cathedral ~ very powerful, I'll always cherish my rosary beads from Notre Dame
Travel on a TGV train to Nice ~ first class upgrade, can't beat that! Patrick & Katie enjoying the ride
Day 5 - French Riviera
Visit the principality of Monaco
Tour a French perfume factory in Eze

Day 6 - Pisa • Florence
Travel to Pisa
Visit the Pisa Baptistery and Cathedral
See the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Continue on to Florence

Day 7 - Florence
Take a guided tour of Florence including the Ponte Vecchio
Visit the Duomo
See a leather-making demonstration
Optional: Siena

Day 8 - Assisi • Rome
Travel to Assisi
Visit the Basilica of St. Francis
Continue on to Rome

Day 9 - Rome
Take a guided tour of Vatican City
Visit the Sistine Chapel
Visit St. Peter’s Basilica

Take a guided tour of Rome ~ I love seeing the churches & cathedrals in Europe, the artistry is indescribably beautiful - as you can see above
Visit the Colosseum
Take a walking tour of Rome: Pantheon, Trevi Fountain
Days 10-12 - Sorrento • Capri • Pompeii
Take a guided tour of Capri ~ the Capri island cruise was wonderful - perfect weather & tons of fun, especially yelling "Mamma Mia" and having it echo as we passed through one of the rock opennings; also loved seeing the turquoise water - a perfect morning
Take a guided tour of Pompeii ~ indescribable feeling just to be there and see those walls and streets and the still in tact frescos
~ an awesome picture of Mt. Vesuvius - taken from the tour bus on our way to the hotel in Sorrento
